Clinics & Services

  • healthy_appleCervical Smear Tests - cancer of the cervix can be prevented and all female patients between the ages of 23 and 65 are advised to have a regular smear test. These tests are important because they can detect early signs of the disease, which is easily treated. We operate a call and recall system to remind you about the tests which are carried out during normal surgeries by the practice nurse or female GP’s.
  • Contraception - We have a comprehensive service within normal surgery hours. All patients receiving contraceptive services are advised to have an annual check-up.
  • Minor Surgery - certain procedures can be performed within the practice as a service to cut short patients waiting time for hospital appointments. These will be arranged by the doctor.
  • Influenza Vaccination - in October ever year, we offer flu vaccination to our patients. It is strongly recommended for high risk patients e.g. those with a heart or chest disease, people with diabetes, or chest disease. Also all those over 65. Please ask for details.
  • Tetanus - vaccination recommended for everyone especially for farm workers. (Booster recommended every ten years). For those who have had their normal childhood immunisations which includes tetanus; a booster is recommended every ten years.
  • Breast Examination - it is a good idea for all women to examine their breasts for abnormalities. If you are not sure how to do this your doctor or practice nurse will be happy to show you. If you should notice any lumps in your breast, please see your doctor. Most lumps are not serious, but it is important to have any possible abnormality checked.
  • Child Health/Immunisation Clinic - the clinic aims to ensure the well-being of children up to the age of five. A planned programme of health development checks and immunisations is provided by a call and recall system. The Clinic is on a Tuesday morning from 10:30 am to 12:00.
